Rachel Vonderdell and Pierrine Chan are passionate about teaching language to young children and have been doing this in York for 8 and 10 years respectively. Both mothers of little linguists themselves, they are keen to share their love of language learning with others.

Rachel is a languages graduate (Spanish and French) with qualifications in teaching English and Spanish. Her son Jamie's language skills are coming on nicely, helped by listening to his Mum singing Spanish songs around the house. Rachel has spent lots of time in Spain: studying in Salamanca, holidaying in Andalucia and over five years teaching English while getting to know the people and customs in the regions of Cantabria, Murcia and Valencia. Since returning to England she has concentrated on teaching Spanish, both in adult education and to young children.

Pierrine, who is from the sunny south of France (by the Mediterranean sea), first came to England in 2000 to improve her English while studying Microbiology at University, before permanently moving to York in 2001. Her three little ones have been speaking fluent French and English since birth, and are learning Cantonese which is their Dad's native tongue. As well as teaching young children in the Petits Amis classes, Pierrine has over 10 years experience of giving private tuition to both adults and children, including GCSE and A level students.

Pierrine and Rachel each hold a certificate of Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
